PART TIME CHEF
Are you passionate about seasonal food that’s delicious and good for the planet? We’re looking for a chef to join our expanding MUD Kitchen team working 2-3 days a week, with the possibility of more shifts over the summer.
Working days will be at least one day a weekend (8am - 4pm) and Fridays (8am - 4pm) plus a mid week shift or another weekend shift depending on the events we have on at the garden.
We’re looking for someone who is great with people, hard working and happy to get stuck in with a project that is continuously evolving.
We cook on fire every weekend, have large event days and run a pop up brunch menu Saturdays and Sundays at Platt Fields Market Garden plus run a catering service mid-week. You will be involved in all of these aspects of the business.
Your role will include making a vegan lunch for over 60 volunteers at a time, prepping for the weekend and events, cleaning, managing the BBQ, taking orders and occasionally creating specials with seasonal produce from the garden if you wish. We also use meat in our kitchen so handling meat is necessary.
You will liaise with the wider MUD team to ensure efficient work flow and have excellent communication and organisational skills. Working well under pressure and being friendly and kind to customers are all essential for this role as you will be public facing in our community garden.
Contract:
£12.60 per hour
6 month part time contract with potential to extend.
Free weekly food growing training, free yoga, lunches and drinks on shift plus 30% staff discount, free event tickets.
Training will be provided.

Essential:
1 years experience in a commercial kitchen
Organised
Excellent communicator
Available weekend days and Fridays
Works well under pressure
Physically able to work lifting heavy pots, be around smoke, outdoors and on your feet for long periods of time.
Desirables:
Driving license
Food and Hygiene Level 3
Experience cooking on fire/BBQ
Experience cooking seasonally
