As the season tips toward autumn, we gather at long tables set among the very rows that fed us. An evening of eating in the place where eating begins.

This is a feast built on the last of summer’s generosity, whatever the earth has offered this week, gathered close and shared plate to plate, hand to hand. The distance between root and plate is a few footsteps, a reminder of how simple abundance can be when land is tended with care.

Under open sky, with friends beside you and strangers becoming familiar, we eat slowly and talk freely. It’s a chance to remember what so much of modern life lets us forget, that food is not manufactured, but grown, and that the earth gives generously back to those who love it well.

Come hungry. Leave a little more rooted.
