Wassail - Blessing the Orchard

This years Wassail was our best one yet! On a crisp sunny Saturday in January, nearly two-hundred of you gathered at the millenium orchard in Platt Fields Park to bless the trees, scaring dark spirits away with a rousing hullabaloo of shouting, singing and banging of pots and pans, and drawing good spirits in with offerings of toast and apple juice.

A group of fresh young apple trees were recently planted there, so we’re now expecting much fruitful growing from them in the years to come. What a bright afternoon in what can sometimes be such a dark January!
