PFMG Community Pottery Workshop - Planters and Dishes

In this 2 hour workshop with potter Meg Beamish, you will make your own clay planter and dish from Platt Fields clay using a variety of hand-building techniques. Pieces will be fired and available to collect from the PFMG café at a later date.

About the event

Using terracotta clay dug from Platt Fields Market Garden, you will learn the techniques of coiling and slab-building to make your own pottery planter and dish. You will have the opportunity to decorate your pots with slips and they will be fired and available to collect from the PFMG café (Fri-Sun 11-4).  Meg Beamish is an emerging community artist, potter and tutor working and living in South Manchester. Over the past four years Meg has built and developed skills in the facilitation of arts workshops, and believes there is great importance in the social and health benefits of bringing people together in creative practice.  

The workshop will run from 6pm-8pm, with hot drinks provided. The workshop will take place in the Frog House, which is accessible by wheelchair, however some of the paths are woodchipped and some users may find this difficult.  

This workshop is open to all ages however children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Please wear clothes you are happy to get messy in!
